Love your wives

"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the Church, and gave himself for it;"
Ephesians 5:25

Oh the irony that one of my first real posts is about loving your wives. For a google happy culture that can look up facts and get to the bottom things I am shocked that people still think Latter-day Saints practice polygamy.   If it isn't clear enough we don't have multiple wives and it was ended a long time ago. I talk about here on a profile I created for Mormon.org as a part of the "I am a Mormon" campaign. So if you have a question about my faith, ask, or at least go to the source not just people commenting about our beliefs. I know it, I live it, I love it and I will try and get you answers because I do not know everything (My 10 year old self would be appalled that I am admitting that, but it is true).

Now back to my original reason for the post. I wanted to share the video at the end of this post. No words were needed and all 4 minutes make me cringe at the thought of getting old, and make me want to be the best I can to the Mr. because I have no doubt that he would do the same thing for me every day for years if he needed to.  I have been thinking a lot about marriage and what is capable of doing.

For the little girl in my old 7 year old primary class who shared about how she knew what a hypocrite was because her mom calls her dad a hypocrite every day.

To the friends and family who have left the gospel because a spouse made the choice to leave and who feel torn between the institution of marriage and the institution of the church.

I am sorry things are so hard but for me and my thoughts on marriage.
It has far surpassed any expectations I ever had.
I never knew I could be so happy.

Life isn't perfect. I would love to have a little more money, a little more time, a little less anxiety about the future but I will take the moments of happiness I experience right now with my little family.Truthfully, I am becoming better for it. My life is simpler and I am learning to love in a way that can only be found in family. Whether family is just a spouse, spouse with children, the parents and siblings you grew up with, a ward family, it doesn't matter, we are all part of a family that goes back generations and will continue for generations to come.
Enjoy, and maybe cry a little.

And because my degree was in Family Studies and I took a lot of "Marriage" classes I thought I would share this website.  It was made for engaged LDS couples but under the publications tab offers some really cool organized by topic ideas that I have used several times in our marriage.  Do you want to understand  forgiveness better? The site pulls up LDS Conference talks, BYU Devotionals, and scholarly articles that support some attributes that are needed in marriage.  :)

  1. Thank you for posting this! It kind of makes me cringe about getting old too. I loved seeing him pull cookies out of the oven. What a wonderfully sweet video.
